The Luiz Fernando Award is promoted by the SBC Special Commission for Multimedia and Web Systems (CE-WebMedia) and aims to award professors and students involved in completed or ongoing innovation projects in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) which have social impact and contribute to IMPROVEMENT OF SOCIETY. Luiz Fernando (LF) was one of the founders of WebMedia, trained several professors and researchers, and carried out research aiming at scientific quality and social impact. He became known for creating the Brazilian Digital TV middleware, today an international standard, which fostered the national industry and generated social impact, for example, the Brasil4D project .
All accepted works will be available in the SBC digital library .
Authors must submit one paper in English or Portuguese, with up to 4 pages in length, including all figures and references. Works that compete for other awards can also participate.
Topics covered by the award, but not limited to, are:
ICTs to support vulnerable populations or those living in hard-to-reach regions (e.g. indigenous, riverside)

The publication of the paper is conditioned on the registration of at least one author, who will present the work during the WebMedia 2022. The workshop’s organizing committee will work on means to promote in-person participation through grants and/or lodging options.
During the event, projects will receive feedback from a panel of innovation experts The authors of the three best papers will receive certificates and wide dissemination in SBC’s media channels. **THE BEST PLACE WILL RECEIVE A NOTEBOOK (worth up to R$3,000.00)** offered by CE-WebMedia.
