The Scientific Initiation and Undergraduate Students Contest (CTIC) is an event that replaces the Workshop on Scientific Initiation, which took place annually during the Brazilian Symposium on Multimedia and Web (WebMedia). The CTIC, which is in its second edition, aims to encourage students from all undergraduate courses to produce original scientific texts on works carried out by them, on topics related to the areas of Multimedia Systems and the Web. The event selects exceptional works developed by undergraduate students, which are published in the proceedings of WebMedia and can be awarded during the event.
CTIC 2022 accepts students enrolled or graduated after July 30, 2021, in Brazilian Higher Education Institutions.. The authors must prove the status of an undergraduate or recent graduate with appropriate documentation, which must send through the work submission platform
Suppose the work is part of a broader project. In that case, the paper’s content must make it possible to identify the scope of the submitted work, how the work is related to the other activities of the project, and the actions and contributions of the undergraduate student or group of undergraduate students.
Papers must be written in Portuguese or English in an expanded abstract and must be limited to a maximum of 4 (four) pages, including figures, references, and annexes. Text formatting must follow the template provided below and be sent in PDF format. The text must necessarily include the title of the work, the author’s names, supervisor and co-supervisor(s) with their respective affiliations, abstract, characterization of the problem and motivation, objectives and contributions, related works, and results obtained.
Topics of interest to CTIC include, among others:
At least three experts will review each paper. The evaluation committee will select five papers for presentation at CTIC 2022. For award purposes, a committee will also evaluate the quality of the oral presentation. Therefore, works not presented at CTIC 20221 will not compete for the award. It is worth noting that the first three places (first, second and third places) will receive a certificate for their placement, and the other two works (fourth and fifth places) will receive an honorable mention certificate.
The student responsible for the work must perform a presentation during the event to be entitled to the award.
Table 1 details the committee’s aspects to evaluate the paper and the oral presentation.
The organizers reserve the right not to include in the proceedings those works that, during the event, are not presented by one of their authors or by a designated representative.
Accepted papers will be published as a special issue of the Electronic Journal of Scientific Initiation in Computing (REIC), ISSN 1519-8219, indexed in SBC Open Lib, SBC’s content portal. All papers will be indexed with DOI.
Candidates must submit their work electronically through the JEMS System, choosing the CTIC track.
