Workshop The Future of Video Collaboration (WCT-Video 2019)

The VI workshop “The Future of Video collaboration”, coordinated by CT-Video (Technical Committee on Technological Prospecting in Video collaboration) will be held on October 31st, 2019 as an event integrated to WebMedia 2019, which will take place at the headquarters of CEFET/RJ in Campus Maracanã. You will also be able to participate remotely.

This year the workshop schedule will be divided into the following sessions:

1. Presentation of selected papers;

2. Panels, guest speakers.

3. Presentation of the projects approved in the RNP-Microsoft Artificial Intelligence announcement for the Video collaboration area, with respective demonstration.

The workshop is open to everyone, and everyone is invited to submit articles and attend the event.

Call for papers

We are pleased to invite you to submit work on ongoing research, prototypes or scenarios of application of new technologies in the area of video collaboration.

In this edition the focus is the submission of articles that reinforce the collaboration and integration between groups and research laboratories, government agencies and companies involved, in the most different forms, in the field of video collaboration. To achieve this goal, articles must involve authors related to at least two distinct groups in academia, government or business.

All works will be reviewed by members of the WCT-Video program committee, and the selected will be presented at the workshop. The works will also be published in the book “Workshops and Posters” of WebMedia 2019.

Topics of Interest

Papers may cover one or more of the following topics of interest, but not restricted to them:

– Multimedia applications in health.
– Multimedia production, editing and transmission.
– Interactive projections.
– Immersive spaces.
– Telepresence systems.
– Holography.
– Augmented Reality.
– Remote collaboration systems.
– 3D audio.
– Digital cinema.
– Online education.
– Machine learning in video applications.
– Surveillance and security systems.
– Video generation in uncontrolled environments.
– Open data for research in the area of multimedia systems.

Format and submission

The works submitted to this Workshop must comply with the following formatting rules:

– Be written in English or Portuguese;
– Works in Portuguese should also have the abstract in English;
– Follow the format for WCT-Video papers
– Respect the 4 page limit.
– To be sent in PDF.

Presentation of accepted work

Each work will have a space in the programming grid for presentation and audience questioning. The paper will also be part of the annals of the book “Workshops and Posters”, bearing the ISBN of this edition. All presentations must include 2 mandatory slides:

– A slide showing the state of the art of research in the area of the work;
– A slide with the author’s future vision on the topic presented (i.e., the direction which the research / technology presented will evolve).

Award and Financing

The three (3) best articles evaluated by the program committee will receive the air ticket to Rio de Janeiro funded by CT-Video, limited to 1 (one) author per article. Only the airfare will be financed, and the authors will be responsible for the other travel costs and registration in WebMedia 2019.
